The grapes come from a vineyard thought to be the first planted or grafted to Tempranillo in the Mokelumne River appellation. Fields picks the fruit relatively early and treats it to only neutral oak, the result a tamed, more flavorful version of the variety. Soft, leathery, spicy and subtly loaded in blackberry and black cherry fruit, it's well worth seeking out.
