This dense wine opens with blackberry, plum, toast, earth and leather aromas. The palate is overwhelmed by oak, showing espresso, toast, spearmint and vanilla while licorice and blackberry sensations remain in the background. It lacks the fruit richness to support the heavy oak influence, and astringent wood tannins dry out the mouth.
