This opens with aromas of charred topsoil, resin, leather, game, overripe black-skinned fruit and raisin. The forward palate is equally earthy—a bit rustic even—showing fig, cured meat, carob, steeped prune, fig and a note of bitter almond alongside ripe, chewy tannins.
