A huge wine, almost Rhône-like in its dark color, thick mouthfeel and cherry flavors. But those cherries are really exotic, suggesting liqueur, and pies spiced with cinnamon, anise, nutmeg and mocha, along with the smoky, buttery sweet pie crust. For all the immediate appeal, it has the tannins and acids to age for a good six years.
