A good, complex wine, but the oak currently sticks out, swamping the fruit with caramel. Makes you wonder why the winemaker thought all that wood was needed, for the underlying blackberry and black cherry fruit flavors are wonderful. Sometimes, less is more. || Easily the best Merlot in memory from Lake County, this one stands next to anything from Napa Valley, which is just over the hill from the vineyard.
