While this is piercing, aggressive and herbal on the nose, there's enough rustic authenticity, licorice and cherry character to push it along. A raw palate offers oak-based flavors of vanilla and coconut but also tart plum and currant. A wiry, shearing finish tastes oaky and feels hard.
