Initially, this smells heavy, earthy, nutty and even a bit raisiny. In the mouth, this is chunky and rich, with pounding tannins. The flavor profile is much like a chocolate parfait, with sweet, nutty, spicy notes. On the finish, copious oak is reflected via clove, mint and wood-spice flavors. Drink this lush, sticky Carmenère through 2021.
