A little on the soft side, this wine charms for the purity of its black cherry, blackberry and cocoa flavors. It also has a nice scour of tannins that grip the palate and stimulate it for rich foods. || Provenance released their regular ‘04 Merlot a few months ago, and this is a riper, more expensive wine, but it can't quite overcome a certain rusticity.
