A bit tight and funky on the nose with damp mushrooms and juniper notes spicing up the black-cherry fruit, this clonal study by winemaker Blair Fox is a great eye-opener for wine geeks. The palate packs shiitake and porcini flavors with basil, bay leaf, oregano and black-pepper spice, laid across black-plum fruit and soy-sauce richness.
