The Pio Cesare starts well; a fat opulent nose of rich fruit mixed with a strong mocha character. It is also big on the palate; plummy and powerful, with good acidity. Towards the end, however, the wine runs out of steam, and it finishes somewhat abruptly and with a slight sourness.
