With an opaque brick color and notes of toasty French oak, this wine announces its lofty ambitions. The fruit is subsumed by the oak right now but there is enough stuffing here to warrant aging for several years to allow for more integration. Smooth tannins suggest a lighter meat dish such as shepherd's pie.
