Sweet, ripe and earthy, with some old-school Chilean aromas of tobacco and baked fruit. 2003 was a hot, dry vintage, and in this case it produced a compact, tight wine with a firm mouthfeel and a nice mix of kirsch, berry and vanilla flavors. It's smooth enough, with medium intensity. But it also has some snap and kick, which is positive for a wine that's already five years old.
