Wine industry veteran Crawford Malone turns the attention of his brand, which is named after a pruning knife, to a Syrah-Grenache-Petite Sirah blend of varying vintages. This starts with roasted fennel and wildfire scents, but then the prettier rose petals aromas of the Grenache emerge. It's very soft, almost massaging on the tongue. The complex flavors bounce between herbs and flowers and fruit, corresponding almost exactly to the characters of the three components.
