Talk about an overoaked wine. From the start, this struggles to keep it real. Aromas of shoe polish, vanilla and scorched oak are dominant. Firm and tannic in the mouth, this Carignan tastes almost entirely of wood resin and mint. That this is oaky and resiny on the finish is no surprise.
