This opens with aromas suggesting new oak, new leather, coconut, dried herb and a whiff of underbrush. The assertive palate shows oak, licorice, a green note of powdered sage and the barest hint of dried sour cherry. Grainy wood-driven tannins lead to a raspy finish. Give the tannins a few more years to soften then drink before the remaining fruit dries up.
