Made in an assertive, firmly tannic style without being too high in alcohol, the reserve-tier wine from one of the oldest wineries in California layers spicy, toasty oak flavors from French and American barrels over a base of ripe cherry. A bold wine for a bold meal. This should age well; perhaps best from 2015–2020.
