There's a thick cloak of tar and darkly toasted oak that dissipates with aeration to reveal ripe, roasted black-fruit flavors in this medium-bodied Merlot. Dense with fruit and hints of dark spice, the palate gets a hit of freshness from vibrant acidity. || Smells of yellow Runts, with a brambly edge. Like the '04 Private Reserve Chardonnay, this wine doesn't lack in body, but the flavors are diminished. Salted yellow fruits die out quickly, leaving nothing behind.
