As usual, the Laurène reserve is a bit of a tough nut to crack, and needs extra breathing time. Here the cranberry-cherry fruit shows layering and depth, but it's so compact that it seems to quickly lead into a tart, tight, somewhat astringent finish. After some hours, a pleasing toasty character emerges, and experience would suggest that this is a wine to cellar for a decade or more.
