Quite a lean wine, austerely tannic. The wood element is prominent and lends an extra dryness to the wine. It is, finally, hard-edged, with the acidity somewhat bitter. || This Soussans estate has produced a well-structured 2001, filled with black fruit, underscored by tannins. It has flavors of spice, some herbs and dark, dry tastes.
