Sometimes referred to as a “Baby Grange,” Penfolds has made Bin 389 in 47 consecutive vintages. The 2004—a blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon and 47% Shiraz—is rich and full-bodied, with vanilla and spice framing cassis fruit. Picks up hints of chocolate, cinnamon and clove on the dusty, firm finish. Drink 2010–2020. || Perhaps this just needs some additional time for the Cabernet and Shiraz components to meld, because right now it comes across as slightly chunky and warm, with cassis and plum flavors verging on prune…
