High alcohol makes this wine a little hot and sweet, and there may be some residual sugar, but it works in this Foothills Zin, of which this is a classic expression. With some rugged tannins and soft, low acidity, it shows expressive red and black berries, milk chocolate, root beer, gingerbread and peppery spices, with a sweet overlay of oak.
