A scent of tar hits the nose first, followed by whiffs of raisin, brown spice and vanilla. The attack on this wine feels flat and flaccid, but the tannins pick up slightly on the midpalate, which lends it some structure. || Flavors of berry preserves and toast are loosely concentrated, with peppy acids that charge the palate. It finishes rather short on flavor; the tannic grip is the lasting element.
