Thanks to wines like this, expect a bright future for this appellation, which is just south of the Santa Lucia Highlands. Aromas of ripe plums, brown spices, turned earth and black slate lead into a silky palate, where red fruits are cut with an emergent, cinnamon-y spice and slightly leathery tannic grip.
