A little smokier in flavor and a little firmer in mouthfeel than other comparable wines, this has an intriguing angular personality that's intended not for cocktail hour but for pairing with, say, a roast pheasant. It has tart-cherry and berry flavors, some light peppery, woodsy accents and lusty, gripping tannins. Best after 2019.
