For the first release of this wine, the oak unfortunately is almost completely overwhelming. Vanilla, green wood, mocha and mint overpower almost any sense of varietal aroma and flavor. || American oak is the barrel choice, 100% new, and it shows strongly in the nose of this young Zinfandel. The citrusy acids help to balance out the alcohol, and with additional bottle age the score could certainly rise.
