Otherwise charming aromas of apple, pear, wet stone and citrus are marred by a hint of something cidery or varnishy. The overall effect isn't completely unpleasant, just lacking a little in purity and freshness. || This is an impressive effort from a co-op in the Gard. Black olive, coffee and blackberry notes suggest a healthy proportion of Syrah in the blend. It's a bit stern at first, but ends on a long, richly tannic note.
