Few are experimenting with this black grape variety, but Brian and Stephanie Terrizzi's bottlings—including this one from the Paso Highlands—suggest more should. Deep, rich and intriguing aromas of stewed plums, vanilla-bean cake and Chinese hoisin sauce give way to heady flavors of blue and purple fruit, all seasoned expertly and showing great verve.
