Considering the almost perfect conditions of 2005, this is certainly better than previous vintages of Clarendelle, the branded wine from Château Haut-Brion. But it still has an awkward stalky edge to it, which cuts through the otherwise rich, velvet texture, leaving bitterness. || As befits its provenance from the hands of the winemaking team of Château Haut-Brion, this is a solid, finely crafted wine, flavored with mint and layers of wood as well as red plums. With these tannins, it could even age a year or 2. || …
