A smoky wine, its fruit submerged in the wood character. It does have weight, along with powerful, tight tannins. It's a wine that will need many years. || It's impressive how the new wood, which tasted overpowering in barrel, has now integrated. Yes, it is firm and toasty, but the sweet Merlot shows well, as do the tense fruit tannins. A wine to age.
